"The Emotional Cup"

This original post was a colourful infographic explaining how students have emotional cups which can be depleted or filled by people in their lives. I felt that the concept of understanding the emotions and circumstances behind a student’s “bad behaviour” was such an important theme for teachers and for Positive Education. The infographic had the company’s name clearly stated – I re-posted this across the various platforms and also credited the organisation in my comment.

Unfortunately, as my first post in the closed Educators Engaging With Educators Facebook group, the site manager commented to ask if I was aware this was actually the work of another author. Another group member commented a similar statement. Luckily this had occurred within a few minutes of posting and after some quick research to confirm this, I was able to remove the post from all platforms. This initially negative critical incident was incredibly important for my PLN development as it made me reflect on the importance of authentic posting and copyright (despite all my efforts to try to credit the work). I was initially discouraged from continuing to use the Facebook group, however, upon sending an apology direct message to the group’s manager and receiving a very reassuring and positive reply, I felt more comfortable with continuing to contribute to the group.
